    Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil over high heat. Cook fettuccine according to package instructions. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.

    Meanwhile, warm oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add chicken strips, sautéing for 3 to 4 minutes.

    Add garlic and mushrooms. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are tender, 4 to 5 minutes. Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Remove from the heat.

    Into the skillet, add pasta, reserved pasta water, Parmesan, and basil. Toss well and serve.
